Rahman Popal is an Associate Attorney at Tobener Ravenscroft. Since 2016, Mr. Popal has counseled thousands of tenants on matters relating to wrongful eviction, constructive eviction, live/work tenancy protections, landlord harassment, displacement due to fire, bodily injury from water intrusions, and nuisance conditions. He has successfully represented tenants at the San Francisco Rent Board. He volunteers with both the San Francisco and Berkeley Tenants Unions. In 2018, he co-authored the article, “Costa-Hawkins and the future rent control in California” in the Daily Journal. Mr. Popal graduated in the top quarter of his class from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2014. After graduating, Mr. Popal served as a Human Rights Advocates Fellow, representing detained undocumented immigrants. From 2015 to 2019, Mr. Popal served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law with their Moot Court Program. Mr. Popal was selected to the 2020 Northern California Rising Star list by Super Lawyers, an honor reserved for lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice. Only 2.5% of attorneys in Northern California receive this distinction.
